in solidarity with immigrants

The first consulting project for Lonnie and In Solidarity was assisting with a strategic communications initiative for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) on migration in the fall and winter of 2016-2017. Working closely with Migration and Refugee Services (MRS), Lonnie worked to develop communications plans and messaging, researched policies, and assisted with advocacy strategy. He also played a support role in press relations, stakeholder engagement, and story collection.

In Solidarity with god's creation

Lonnie Ellis, founder of In Solidarity, was a member of the team responsible for the U.S. introduction of Pope Francis’ environmental encyclical Laudato Si’. Working as associate director of Catholic Climate Covenant and in collaboration with USCCB, Lonnie played a lead role in helping bishops organize eight press conferences and publish eight op-eds outlining the moral call to act on climate change. Lonnie helped craft compelling messages in a diverse set of states including Iowa, Virginia and Ohio, resulting in thousands of media hits.
